August Product Spotlight

Automotive wheels and rims, small engine blocks and manifolds, crated product or material - what heavy items do you want to carry with a gripper? PHD has the answer with our Series GRR. Available in four standard jaw travels, (150, 200, 250 and 300 mm),
these robust actuators still perform with precision in the most demanding applications.

Trademarked the Guardian, the Series GRR features the ability to operate jaws in synchronized, non-synchronized, and independently powered modes. Its three large diameter jaw guides provide extremely stable jaw travel and high moment capacities. Yet the GRR's compact design yields the lightest overall weight of all its nearest competitors.

Additional options include PHD's Rodlok system which holds the jaws in a stationary position in the event of air pressure loss. An analog output sensor option continuously monitors jaw position. Proximity switches are also available for discreet position sensing.

New PHD Plus Animations

PHD recently released a lower cost lead screw version of our series of PHD Plus electric cylinders and linear slides. The Series ECV Electric Cylinders, ESK/ESL Electric Thruster Slides, and ESG Electric Gantry Slides are now offered in lead screw designs in addition to ball screw.

We've updated animations to include reference to the new lead screw designs.

  • The Internal Workings animation shows the anti-rotation feature of the lead screw version cylinders
  • The Max Speed & Thrust animation includes a table for various sizes and leads of the lead screw version cylinders
  • A new Example Application has been created specifically to highlight the lead screw version of the Series ECV Cylinder
In this animation, the Series ECV Cylinder with lead screw allows for greater thrust capacity. Internal friction limits back driving possibly eliminating the need of a brake.
