The Power of Patchouli
Ah Patchouli. It is one of those fragrances that people either absolutely love - or absolutely hate. Yet it is a powerful herbal. As an essential oil, it is a rarity in that it doesn't lose any benefits over time. The longer you keep patchouli oil, the stronger it can become.
It has a rich, earthy fragrance, and is found in many skin care products, whether you realize it or not. We use it in several of our products because it is wonderful for mature or dry skin, yet it also helps acne.
I have to admit, it always reminds me of those hippie shops when I was a kid. The leaves of the plant were often used as packing materials when shipping from the far east because they deterred pests. I think it may also find it's way into next seasons bug repellent spray!
It's many gifts make it worth while to give patchouli another try.

For the Love of Pumpkin
I've always been a pumpkin junkie. From the first time my dad and I hacked out a happy scary face, I've been mesmerized by the wonder of these wonderful Autumn fruits. I love to carve them, cook them, dry them, use them in our products, and wander happily through a field of pumpkins. Their appearance heralds in the season of cooler weather, dark and cozy nights, and the shift of the season just before the long winter nights appear. It's the last hurrah of the growing season,
and the gateway to Halloween's magic. It seems that over recent years, the world has embraced pumpkins in all new ways. Carving has been taken to amazing levels, going past just knife stabbed triangle eyes into amazing sculpting. There are pumpkin sweet treats of all kinds - candied pumpkin, pumpkin muffins, pumpkin cakes, and so on. Pumpkin coffee and lattes and teas are big hit drinks. On that I have to admit I'm a big Pumpkin Chai fan.
There are hundreds of types of pumpkins available at most farms. You can find white, bright orange, pale yellow, blue, green, warty, smooth, netted, speckled and so many more. Take advantag e of the many heritage varieties and try out something a little different. Even their taste varies between varieties. We had one pumpkin last year that had almost a honeydew melon type of taste.
Don't be afraid... it's just a pumpkin!
