In Honor of Poetry Month

April is National Poetry month. I present to you a short poem from by favorite poet - Ogden Nash.

Always Marry An
April Girl

Praise the spells and bless the charms,
I found April in my arms.
April golden, April cloudy,
Gracious, cruel, tender, rowdy;
April soft in flowered languor,
April cold with sudden anger,
Ever changing, ever true --
I love April, I love you.

A Castle in the Sand ... A Dream for the Shore

It may have happened back in October, but we're all still adjusting to post Sandy life. Fingers are crossed that our shore will come back - different maybe, but still the beauty, fun and adventure we remember.

There's a great project going on in Point Pleasant Beach. Sandy Castle 2013 is  community project to build the worlds largest sand castle. How cool is that?! Volunteers and donations are welcome. To find out more go to the Sandy Castle 2013 site. There you can find out more about Ed Jarret, the artist and beach enthusiast behind the project. You can also donate or volunteer to help move sand into place before building begins.

The Ups and Downs of

Awesome April

Spring moves into it's fulness in April, making us feel alive and hopeful. Then there's April 15, Tax Day. No need to say how that makes us feel. But there are lots of other things going on in April, and they'll give you cause to celebrate.

Tuesday the 16th is National Stress Awareness Day. Seems appropriate.  It's a little early to go to Pleasant Valley Lavender Farm and stock up on relaxing lavender. In the meantime you can just take a nice nature walk at Rutgers Gardens

Thursday  the 18th is National High Five Day

Sunday the 21st starts National Karaoke Week. Sing those songs loud and proud!

There are two very important days in April that everyone should celebrate. April 22 is Earth Day. Whether you celebrate simply by tending your garden, or by participating in local events, take time to appreciate the amazing planet we all call home.

And at the end of that week, on Friday the 26th, it's National Arbor Day. Trees clean pollution, provide oxygen, prevent erosion, give us food and medicine, provide shade and food. And for me... well they just make me happy. Plant a tree, help plant trees at  park, but appreciate these natural guardians.
