1) Interview and assess client needs to determine eligibility for services through our ministry or other community providers, including Federal 
and State entities.

2) Document client file with required proof of identification, copies of Social Security cards for all household members, food stamp award letters, income certification (unemployment, SSI, SSD, etc.) and other required documents to determine program eligibility.

3) Document client file with concise information of assessment and eligibility determination and type of assistance awarded/referrals made.
4) Assist client with understanding monthly income/outgo of financial resources and offer suggestions of how to minimize monthly expenses.

5) With client permission, advocate for clients to obtain housing, employment, medical care, and other types of services/resolution of problems by directly interacting with other providers on their behalf.

6) Maintain current knowledge of different types of benefits and other community programs that could serve as referral resources for clients.

Bellingrath Gardens and Home has the following openings:
 
Gardener to maintain landscaped areas. Seasonal position. Duties include but are not limited to mowing, weed eating & edging lawns. Planting, trimming and removal of trees and shrubs, maintaining irrigation system. Must be able to lift 50 pounds.  Must be able to work outside.
 
Gardener in display department, full-time with benefits; some of the essential duties are to plant, pull weeds, maintain the public display areas of the gardens, must be able to work outside year round.
 
Greenhouse department, full-time with benefits; duties include but are not limited to growing/taking care of plants in/around the greenhouses. Some experience preferred.  Shifts are five days per week, some weekends required, must be able to work outside year round. Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
 
Magic Christmas In Lights, full-time with benefits; this position will assist the MCIL Supervisor in the installation, maintenance, take down, & rehabilitation of the MCIL show and it's lighted decorations. Crane Operator

Job Description:
Will work as a Gantry Crane Operator for a 55 MT capacity P&H gantry shore crane to load/unload cargo/equipment to/from river barges.
Pay Rate:
$16.00 to $22.00 per hour.
Work Schedule:
Requires availability to work any day of the week including weekends.
Also requires availability to work days, evenings, nights and rotating shifts.

Job Duties:
* Get instructions from Superintendent or General Manager regarding barge sequencing and discharge or loading patterns.
* Perform pre-shift/pre-operation check list, notify supervisors of any items that are in need of attention.
* Observe all safety precautions according to OSHA/ASME regulations.
* Check work area from topside to determine placement of crane, type of cargo, adequacy of gear for job, etc.
* Operate crane in a safe, stable and controlled manner.
* Utilize visual orientation of crane's cab and automated cargo handling rigging to remove or place cargo and when appropriate (and when instructed) observe hand signals from signalman to winch up/down to/from barge hold.
* Operate and monitor computerized crane systems.
* Don't overload capacity of crane based upon charts; closely monitor warning devices/load indicators.
* Keep an eye on gear for wear and tear.
* Communicate with Supervision and/or barge company regarding progress of load/discharge operations on a timely basis.
* Observe at all times that people or objects are clear of your crane, its load or another object.
When appropriate, maintain eye contact with your signalman and landing man.
* Never discharge cargo over co-workers; stop and signal with horn if any person is in the way.
* Observe all safety rules, OSHA regulations and administrative & operational policies and procedures.
* Immediately communicate any perceived deficiencies or operational problems to supervision.

Job Requirements:
Requires at least two years of experience as a crane operator.
Requires basic computer literacy/skills for crane systems monitoring, performance monitoring, and checklist data entry (specific operating system training will be provided).
Requires good communication skills.
Requires skills to operate a crane safely, carefully and productively.
Requires skills to work well and coordinate activities well with other employees and various external parties.
Requires a valid driver's license, a background check and a drug screen.
Requires availability to work any day of the week including weekends. Must operate for the duration of time to unload an entire barge (2-3 hours) with 15-20 minute breaks between barges.

RELATIONSHIP AND ACCOUNTABILITY:
* Accountable to Superintendents and Facility General Manager.
* Accountable for safety, quality and productivity. Requires ASME training or equivalent experience.
