MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:  Attainment of a minimum of a bachelor's degree with a major in accounting or auditing, preferably supplemented by related graduate level course work and certification as a certified public accountant or a certified government finance officer, and a minimum of three years' responsible experience in accounting and auditing; or a combination of education and experience equivalent to these requirements.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS OF THE WORK:  Thorough knowledge of Federal, State and City laws, rules and regulations governing the department or agency to which assigned; thorough knowledge of Governmental Auditing, Accounting and Financial Reporting Standards; good knowledge of computerized accounting systems; ability to analyze and interpret accounting data and reports; ability to determine violations, to detect and explain significant account irregularities and to recommend effective corrective measures; ability to prepare clear and comprehensive reports; ability to deal tactfully with controversial public relations problems; ability to express ideas clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with officials, department heads and private employers.
