   Mobile Works, Inc. in conjunction with Dumas Wesley Community Center will hold a Community Resource Fair on Tuesday, May 19 from 3 p.m. - 6 p.m. The event aims to connect the unemployed and underemployed with resources and supportive services to ensure success in the workforce.

   

   Learn about apprenticeships,training scholarships, transportation, computer classes, resume assistance, housing,and more.

Correctional Officer Trainee


 

Salary: $28,516.00 to $43,339.00

Job applicants are offered conditional employment as a Correctional Officer Trainee. COTs complete all academic and physical requirements of the ADOC and the Alabama Peace Officers' Standards and Training Commission (APOSTC) within one year of initial appointment in order to become certified as a correctional officer in the State of Alabama. After appointment, COTs will be scheduled to attend the 12-week residential correctional academy at the ADOC Training Center in Selma. COTs reside at the Academy Sunday through Thursday of each week. Successful completion of the Academy will result in APOSTC Certification as a Correctional Officer. Correctional Officer Trainees serve a minimum 6-month probationary period. Salary increases and successful completion of probationary status are based upon job performance. Upcoming testing will be June 19, 2015 at the Bibb Correctional Facility in Brent, Alabama.

Job Duties:

The mission of the Alabama Department of Corrections is to confine, manage and provide rehabilitative programs for convicted felons in a safe, secure and humane environment, utilizing professionals who are committed to public safety and to the positive re-entry of offenders into society.


 

Specific Skill Requirements and Essential Job Functions:

High School Graduate or GED Certificate, Valid Driver's License, 19 Years of Age or older, No Felony Convictions, No Domestic Violence Convictions, U.S. Citizenship (includes naturalized citizenship), Discharged Under Honorable Conditions (if prior military experience) from U.S. Armed Forces, Good Health and Physically Fit. Must be able to pass a Written Examination, Physical Agility Test, Background check, and Drug Test.
