Community Resource Fair scheduled

 

 

  Mobile Works, Inc. in conjunction with Dumas Wesley Community Center will hold a Community Resource Fair on Tuesday, May 19 from 3 p.m. - 6 p.m. The event will be held at the Dumas Wesley Community Center, 126 Mobile Street and aims to connect the unemployed and underemployed with resources and supportive services to ensure success in the workforce.

 

  "The Community Resource Fair was created to address concerns from Commissioner Ludgood and Councilman CJ Small," states Sydney Raine, Mobile Works president. "Often, our elected officials are asked to assist with finding employment and supportive services for their constituents. Our goal is to showcase the services provided by these agencies in an attempt to empower job seekers and help those currently working to retain their employment."

 

  Some of the agencies scheduled to exhibit at this event are: Alabama Career Center, 211/Lifelines Family Counseling, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Our Sister's Closet, Mobile Works, Victory Health Partners, Goodwill Easter Seals, Telamon and other non-profits will be in attendance.

 

   "We know that a job can change a life, stabilize a family and build a community.  We are fortunate to have community partners like Mobile Works who understand the economic and social benefits of workforce development - especially for our underserved residents," said Kate Carver, executive director of the Dumas Wesley Community Center.

An established Nonprofit is seeking a full-time Director for its Rural Business Initiative Program which serves Washington, Clarke, Monroe, Conecuh and Escambia Counties. Office is currently in Brewton, Ala. Competitive salary and benefits package available dependent upon experience.

 

Job Duties:

Essential functions of the job include: Manage client services and provide: business counseling, mentoring, training, business planning, coaching, networking, follow-up. Coordinate, organize and execute events, luncheons and other functions as needed. Oversee day to day operations of the project.  Recruit, train and supervise project staff, contractors and volunteers. Maintain Center operating hours in accordance with contract requirements.  Maintain client files and confidentiality. Must reside within the five county service area and have reliable transportation, with the ability to travel daily within the service area. Must be able to conduct/work some evening and weekend events.  Other responsibilities as assigned.

 

Specific Skill Requirements and Essential Job Functions:

Education & Experience must include a 4-year accredited college degree in business related field. Two plus years of experience specifically in management or small business ownership desired but not required. Maintains a wide variety of law enforcement information and identification files and records; compiles information and prepares reports for State and Federal law enforcement agencies; types bulletins, reports, records and correspondence; posts dispositions; codes and files accident, offense and arrest reports; searches files and provides information to authorized individuals; enters data through operation of computer terminal; reviews data for accuracy and completion; processes attachments, warrants and subpoenas received from court and forwards to officer responsible for serving; operates computer terminal to inquire on arrests and to enter, modify or cancel warrants; enters data and maintains records on seized funds and property, asset and evidence control, uniform issues and impounded vehicles and fleet management; collects monies from the public for copies of incident and accident reports; provides customers with information and assistance; answers telephone, provides information and assistance, takes messages, or refers to appropriate personnel; processes applications for press passes, cab drivers and private investigators; verifies and checks case numbers, warrants and records on suspects; files offense reports, warrant cards and mug shots; processes criminal histories on gun permit applicants; maintains records of receipts for gun permit fees; enters permit information; assists in the training of new personnel; designs and creates forms and spreadsheets; processes requisitions; maintains records of impounded vehicles; receives deliveries; processes Youthful Offender orders; performs related work as required. case numbers, warrants and records on suspects; files offense reports, warrant cards and mug shots
