     Happy New Year! It's a new year of possibilities for job seekers. New businesses are locating to the area and expansions of current businesses have positioned Mobile to become an economic powerhouse. Now is the time to take advantage of training programs through Mobile Works and job opportunities through the Alabama Career Center located at 515 Springhill Plaza Court.  

 

     Job seekers have access to a range of services under one roof.   Services include training opportunities in aviation, healthcare, manufacturing, etc. through Mobile Works. Get the skills and position yourself to get the job. Also, employment search assistance is available through the Alabama Department of Industrial Relations. Bishop State's Adult Basic Education and seasonal worker transition services for migrant workers with Telamon are also available at the Career Center. 
 
     Furthermore, workers with disabilities can receive specialized job-related training and assistance through the Department of Vocational Rehabilitation Services and veterans can receive employment search assistance from veterans employment service representatives on site.  Additional services available to job seekers include:

  • access to the Alabama JobLink website found at www.joblink.alabama.gov
  • job readiness classes on resume preparation, interviewing, dressing for success and financial literacy 
  • computers with internet access for a self-directed job search
  • computers with Microsoft Office software
  • access to a telephone, e-mail  and fax machine to communicate with prospective employers

  • businesses have access to on-site conference rooms for interviewing, free internet listings services for job openings, free recruitment and screening of job applicants

The Alabama Career Center System, the North Baldwin Chamber of Commerce and the City of Bay Minette are proud to host a Veteran Job Expo on January 16  from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM at the John F. Rhodes Civic Center located at 301 D'Olive Street, Bay Minette, AL.

 

This event is at no charge to job seekers.  The event is focused on veterans from 9:00 AM to 11:30 AM and open to the public from 11:30 AM to 2:00 PM.  Those seeking jobs can apply for available positions and learn about training opportunities, veteran support organizations, and agencies that are able to assist with overcoming barriers to employment.The following will be in attendance:
