Job seeker tip of the week

Tip of the week: Think before you post.

facebookpix We've all heard the saying that beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Likewise, your written words are in the eye of the beholder, especially if you're job hunting. Social media can be a useful tool to help with your job search. Similarly, it could negatively impact your job search. What you write on Facebook, Twitter and other social media sites says a lot about you. It doesn't matter if you were venting, advocating for social injustices, complaining about horrible customer service at a restaurant or providing encouraging words to a friend. Your words may be viewed as encouraging and thought provoking or shrewd and malicious.

Therefore, think before you post. If you've ever apologized or deleted a post about something you've written, a prospective employer might interpret your actions as someone who rushes to judgment without thinking things through.

An employer might interpret your actions as someone who is careless and

could possibly harm the company's reputation.
