AIDT Maritime Training Center to host National Contest and Career Fair

      Mobile- January 14- January 18, 2013, the AIDT Maritime Training Center in Mobile, will host a premier training event that will prepare the top three welders in the United States for a single spot on the 2013 SkillsUSA WorldTeam. The weeklong "welding extravaganza" at the AIDT Maritime Training Center doesn't stop here. Tours of the $12 million, 67,000 square-foot multicraft facility will be available to the public January 15- January 17, from 8:00 a.m.- 4:00 p.m. To top-it-all-off, on Wednesday, January 16, from 8:00 a.m.- 4:00 p.m., the public is invited to a career fair. The career fair will be a wonderful opportunity for skilled and unskilled workers to speak with industry representatives from maritime and construction businesses in Alabama and the gulf coast that are seeking qualified employees.

 

   Registration is not required to attend the AIDT, American Welding Society, and SkillsUSA sponsored events at the Maritime Training Center, and there is no charge. The public and media are encouraged to come at their leisure on the specific dates listed to watch the contests, attend the career fair, or simply tour the facility.    Finalists for the 2013 SkillsUSA World Team will be selected in Daytona, FL during the 2013 Daytona 500 Speedweek in February, and the winner will represent the United States at theWorldSkills welding competition July 2-7, 2013, in Leipzig, Germany.
