Participant Profile: Gillian Harwood
In honor of National Pancreatic and Lung Cancer Awareness Month, we would like to share Gillian Harwood's story. Gillian is a seven-year pancreatic and lung cancer survivor and a CSCVVSB support group participant.
Gillian (Gill) Harwood was diagnosed in 2005 with both pancreatic and lung cancer. After having surgery to remove a lobe of her lung, she had a second surgery to remove her pancreas, spleen, and gall bladder. The difficult recovery included a five-week hospital stay and a feeder pump. Once she was released from the hospital, she still required care from home nurses and her husband, who she says is a "fantastic caregiver and champion for me."

Leaving a Legacy: Diana Malmquist
Diana Malmquist has been an avid supporter of the Cancer Support Community Valley/Ventura/Santa Barbara since the beginning. Through her planned gift, she has ensured that she will remain a supporter for generations to come.
It was a chance meeting almost 25 years ago at The Oaks Shopping Center that led to Diana's affiliation with CSCVVSB. When she ran into co-founder Marty Nason, RN, MN at the mall, Marty explained that she and co-founder Beth Hill-Kin, RN, MS, OCN were starting a Wellness Community (former name of Cancer Support Community) in Westlake Village.
