First Friday is upon us, and we've got a fantastic lineup of shows for Aug. 1, including a connection with the Springfield Art Museum via shuttle!
Love art? Love animals? Fresh Gallery is the place to be for Impressions of the Wild, featuring artwork and live demonstrations by animal "artists" from the Dickerson Park Zoo and Rutledge Wilson Farm Park.
The August Walk is also the scene of some fascinating juxtapositions: Biotechnology meets art in The 'T' House at ideaXfactory; VHS images contrast with the "era of high-definition obsession" in Video Daze: A Celebration of the Poor Image at Arts & Letters; and visual art and word art combine in Michelle Swift's The Weapon is Will at BookMarx.
We also have Authors at Art Walk at Park Central Branch Library; a fascinating presentation on silent film star Pearl White at the History Museum on the Square at The Fox Theatre; and Featured Artist Madeline Brice at RSVPaint.
Finally, The Mother Road beckons as The Creamery Arts Center gets its show "on the road" with 2,451 Miles: Celebrating Route 66.
All of the above is just a taste. Get more show info, and links to details and slideshows, below!
