Making Connections
National Girls Collaborative Project
NGCP Logo The National Girls Collaborative Project provides a national Program Directory, which lists organizations and programs that focus on motivating girls to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). The purpose of the Program Directory is to help individuals and organizations network, share resources, and collaborate on STEM-related projects for girls. Search the Program Directory in your region to find programs with volunteer opportunities.
 
CoderDojo
CoderDojo Logo CoderDojo is an international, free, not-for-profit computer club for young people looking for female tech Mentors to volunteer at their coding clubs (Dojos). Dojos operate all over the world on a weekly basis, giving young people between the ages of 7 and 17 the opportunity to learn how to develop computer code, websites, apps, games, and to explore technology.
 
CoderDojo has created this video to help promote the clubs. Visit CoderDojo to find a Dojo near you to inspire the next generation of young female coders to get involved in STEM.

 

Support Lab Candy KickStarter

Support LabCandy on Kickstarter Olivia Pavco-Giaccia has launched a Kickstarter campaign to raise funds for production of LabCandy's products. Kickstarter is a global crowdfunding platform based in the United States. In just a few days, they reached their first goal of $20,000. LabCandy is hoping to add additional resources for girls in STEM to their product.

 

Join us in supporting this worthy mission and help LabCandy and together we can cultivate our next generation of scientists, inventors, and innovators. Visit the LabCandy Kickstarter campaign today and make your pledge! Also, like the LabCandy Facebook page and spread the word about this awesome resource for girls!

 

FabFem Connection Spotlight

Helicopter pilot, Stacy Sheard was invited to speak at the 25th Scholarship Anniversary Celebration for the San Diego Air & Space Museum. 

  

According to Donna Lilly, the Scholarship Chairman, "the scholars and 130 guests were enthralled by Stacy's video and PowerPoint presentation of her career path from military to helicopter test pilot. Stacy is a delightful speaker and grand role model for the 12 senior high school grads who received $40,000 in scholarship awards from five endowments at the Museum."
