Dear Friends and Colleagues:

I often find myself thinking that information shared with one organization might be helpful to others.  In that spirit, I'd like to tell you about an opportunity coming up later this month.

As a member of the Massachusetts Nonprofit Network, I have been impressed with work MNN does to bring affordable training and education to Nonprofit Boards and their Executive Leadership. You might find MNN to be a valuable resource - for the networking opportunities it affords and the educational programs it offers. .

On Thursday, October 25, I will be presenting a workshop: Who's Wearing Which Hat: Clarifying Board and Staff Roles at the Massachusetts Nonprofit Network 2012 Conference. This year's conference will feature many interesting and timely presentations and speakers. I hope you will consider attending this gathering of your nonprofit colleagues.

I am happy to send you this e-news letter and will be back in touch from time to time with practice tips and other information which I hope will help your nonprofit organization achieve success!

Very truly yours,

Some Questions to Consider for Your Nonprofit:

* Do the roles of your Executive Director and Board
sometimes crossover?

* Should your organization define responsibilities
with greater clarity?

* Is your nonprofit trying to minimize duplicated efforts and operate more efficiently?

Who's Wearing Which Hat? Clarifying Board and Staff Roles is designed to help Executive Directors and their Boards understand their respective roles and responsibilities within the nonprofit organization they serve.

Clarity about roles and legal responsibilities helps Board members understand their governance obligations and how best to support the Board's day-to-day working relationship with management.
Organizations with clarity in this area find they operate more efficiently and can minimize costly duplication of effort and gridlock.
