Crosslin Receives The St. Louis Award
Strengthening our region through ethnic diversity
(From L-R) Mayor Francis Slay; Anna Crosslin; St. Louis County Executive Steve Stenger; and David Kemper, President of The St. Louis Award Committee.
Anna Crosslin is the 2016 recipient of The St. Louis Award. More than 100 guests including public and private leaders, friends and family were present for the ceremony and reception on December 8 at the International Institute of St. Louis.
David Kemper, President of The St. Louis Award Committee, greeted the crowd and offered remarks. He noted that Crosslin's selection marked the 85th year of the award. Kemper said that immigrants have great value to our community, especially as entrepreneurs and a source of new population in our region.
"The new Pew Research Center projections show that the nation is projected to grow to 441 million by 2065," said Kemper. "88% of the increase is linked to future immigrants and their descendants."

Holiday Bazaar Big Success
Supporting immigrant entrepreneurs
Holiday Bazaar attendees shop at one of our 15+ gift booths.
The International Institute's second annual Holiday Bazaar was a great success! Presented by our Junior Board, the bazaar attracted more than 750 people on December 2 and 3.
They shopped for unique gifts from local and international crafters. Some gifts were made by immigrant entrepreneur crafters who have received assistance from our economic development program.
Our youngest visitors practiced origami paper-folding and sipped hot chocolate. Lunch was available from two local food trucks.
