Feast of Nations is Delicious Success

Almost 1,000 turn out for inaugural event

Richard Tao at Feast of Nations
Richard Tao, II Board Chair, talks about the Institute with a Feast of Nations guest at Siete Luminarias Restaurant on Cherokee.

"Feast of Nations is a chance for me to hang out with friends, eat a really delicious ethnic meal, and also help the International Institute," said Jodi, a guest at Yemanja Brasil.

On Tuesday, April 2, this sentiment was repeatedly echoed by nearly 1,000 St. Louisans who flocked to restaurants which were participating in Feast of Nations.

Many guests have reported that the vast array of ethnic food at the Festival of Nations is their favorite part of the annual multiethnic Festival of Nations
festival. Now, they've got Feast of Nations to look forward to as well! (Festival of Nations will be held in Tower Grove Park this year on August 24-25.)

Did you participate in Feast of Nations? If so, where did you eat? To blog about your experience, click here. And don't forget to use the links at our blog site to post a review about the restaurant where you ate. Let's give the restaurants the feedback and support they deserve!

2012 Volunteers Provide Broad Impact

Institute support continues to grow

Each April, National Volunteer Month is a time to celebrate the huge impact volunteers make in our communities. According to the Corporation for National and Community Service, St. Louis ranks 10th in volunteer service across our nation's biggest cities. More than 755,000 St. Louisans volunteer each year, totaling $1.8 billion of service contributions.

ThankYou

At the International Institute, our volunteers serve in a wide variety of areas. From four-hour shifts at Festival of Nations to year-long positions as AmeriCorps or VISTAs, volunteers play a valuable role. They provide essential services to advance our mission of helping immigrants and their families become productive Americans and championing ethnic diversity as a cultural and economic strength.
