CAN DO Program Success Highlighted at National Conference

We're excited to be traveling to Indianapolis for the 2015 Annual Meeting of the Consortium of Multiple Sclerosis Centers to share our results from, Transforming Lives: Evaluation of Immediate and 6-month Outcomes from the CAN DO PROGRAM, as a scientific abstract poster at the conference.

This annual conference brings together all groups committed to improving the lives of people with MS and provides them with the most up-to-date information impacting patient care in areas of research, therapies, symptomatic care and much more.

We're looking forward to participating in accredited educational programs, learning about new products and services and sharing information within our expanding networks.

"Life with MS is hard. I'd love to give it back. But now that I know I can ski again, it's really opening my eyes to all the different activities I can try. Through programs like Vertical Express, Can Do MS helps people see what they still can do with their lives." - Arwen Sherman, Vertical Express Adaptive Participant

Six years ago, Arwin was diagnosed with MS and confined mostly to a wheelchair, terrified, and wondering what she would ever be able to do again. Join us on her can do journey from therapy to the thrills of skiing down a mountain.

Addressing the Language and Cognitive Challenges of MS
Can Do MS Programs Consultants: Janet DeClark, MA, CCC-SLP and Juliann Hanson-Zlatev, OTR

Cognition and communication challenges affect approximately 50-66% of those with MS. Impairment can range from mild to severe, but most MS-related cognitive changes fall in the mild to moderate range. However, even subtle changes in cognition can be distressing and can have a significant impact on daily function. Fortunately, using strategies to compensate can help facilitate cognitive and language functions.

Question:
I have a very mild form of Relapsing MS. So far, only my eye sight has been affected, but lately, I find that I often fall for no particular reason and I'm also often dizzy. Are these signs of a relapse? Is there anything I can do about that? I like walking with my dog but I unfortunately fall and it's embarrassing. Any suggestions would be welcome.

MS Blueprint
A new online tool is now available to you!

Can Do MS encourages people with MS and their support partners to set personalized goals and focus on what they can do. We instill this in our program participants, so they can understand what is possible with MS and learn how to live fuller lives within the constraints of MS.

That's why we partnered with the International Organization of Multiple Sclerosis Nurses (IOMSN) and the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation (MSF) to support the creation and launch of Biogen's MS Blueprint™, a new program to encourage people impacted by MS to focus on activities to try to bring joy to their lives every day.

We encourage you to visit MSBlueprint.com to set goals, create personalized activity plans called MS Blueprints, and take small steps to attain a more positive life.
