Update Your Outlook on
Progressive MS
Can Do MS Programs Consultants: Rosalind Kalb, PhD and Patricia Kennedy, RN, CNP, MSCN

The words "progressive MS" can set off alarm bells. No one wants to hear that his or her MS is, or has become, progressive. When symptoms worsen and abilities are affected, it can feel frustrating and frightening, particularly when a person feels he or she has been doing everything possible to manage the disease. However, there are exciting research developments in the area of progressive MS, and there are many things you can do to optimize your health and well-being with progressive disease.

Ask the Can Do Team
An online Q & A for people living with MS and their support partners that connects them to our interdisciplinary team of MS experts.
.

Question:
I'm still in my first year of my diagnosis, and my biggest problem is taking my DMTs (disease-modifying therapies). The DMT doesn't make me feel any better and only periodically causes side effects. I know these are good for me in the long term, but like exercise, broccoli and compounding interest, they take some time to pay off. Do you have any suggestions for this problem?
