These past few weeks, your children have been working hard on creating beautiful artwork that you can have turned into keepsakes to treasure for a lifetime.  At this point, you should have received your child's original artwork along with an order form in your child's backpack.  Today is the deadline to order, so please send your orders in right away!

Show your school spirit while staying warm in our hooded, zippered sweatshirts.  Children and Adult sizes in various colors are still available! Click here to print out an order form.

Please consider making a tax-deductible donation to NIS.  Checks should be made payable to Friends of NIS and put in an envelope sent to the attention of Susan Cali.  You can also make a donation online by clicking here!

A NOTE FROM OUR NEW EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR,

JAY SILVERSTEIN, PH.D.

I am proud and honored to be the new Executive Director at NIS. The contributions of the former Executive Director, Ms. Helen Wilder, and the staff, administration, families, and of course students in making NIS the special place it is have been nothing short of amazing. In only a few short weeks I have felt and experienced the sense of family, community, and commitment at NIS. I plan on working closely with staff, students, and families to continue in the tradition of NIS as an exceptional place for children to grow and learn, and to secure our future as a state of the art school of excellence. Please feel free to email, call, or stop by to say "hello."

SPEECH NEWS

 In this month's issue:

This Month's Verbal Gem
A little boy and his speech therapist were looking at pictures of animals that live in the water and naming them; one was a tadpole.  The boy was asked, "And what animal is this?" He answered, "A snake-fish!!"  (Good Answer!)

ABOUT NIS

NIS is a not for profit school that provides a range of therapeutic and educational programs for both typically developing and developmentally delayed children from birth to five years old.  NIS receives funding from New York State and Suffolk County to cover programs and services for students with disabilities; however, we rely on donations to enhance these programs and services.

NIS is a circle of people who envelop those we serve with warmth, enlightenment, and security.  We are a creative learning center for the community, for children with disabilities, and those who are typically developing.  Our commitment to provide therapeutic and educational services with love and the highest standard of expertise to all who come to NIS remains constant, strong, and deep.  Please consider making a tax-deductible donation today!
