December in Review

|
The New Interdisciplinary School celebrated Hanukkah, Christmas, and Kwanzaa this year! Our festivities began on December 4th with a Hanukkah Celebration, whereby students learned about the story of Hanukkah told by Physical Therapy Coordinator, Peter Raalf, who stunned the children and staff by making one small bottle of oil miraculously last eight days! He engaged the students by having an interactive staff singalong of Hanukkah songs, a couple of which he wrote himself! The children truly loved this educational, fun presentation.
 Thanks to the families who braved the snow to come to the Pancake Breakfast on December 14th. We hope you had fun with Santa, Mrs. Claus, and the elves! The children seemed to truly enjoy coming to school in their pajamas, seeing the school transformed into the Polar Express, and eating breakfast with Santa himself! 
The Santa Parade held on Thursday, 12/19 was a huge hit! The students had a blast seeing Santa and Mrs. Claus parade through the school!
Lastly, the children celebrated Kwanzaa on 12/20, just before they left for their Holiday Break. NIS Executive Director, Helen Wilder, had children call out names of fruits and vegetables as she filled a basket, tell us the color of each candle in the kinara (candle holder), and collectively blow the candles out together. They then danced while she played a drum, and together, everyone sang a short Kwanzaa song. It was an educational and enjoyable experience for all!
The children truly enjoyed learning about all the holidays!

FAMILY FUN NIGHT AT FRIENDLY'S
The New Interdisciplinary School is hosting Family Fun Night at Friendly's! Come join the fun anytime between 4 - 9 PM on Tuesday, January 14, 2014 because a percentage of all sales will go to support our school! Remember to bring your voucher! You can print it by clicking here. Be sure to print several copies and share it with your friends and family members. A copy will also be going home in your child's backpack in early January.
