Take a moment to help your student(s)
play it safe and share once again that safety isn't just about
*HOW* they ride the bus . . . it's also about engaging in safe behavior traveling TO and FROM the bus stop and *BEFORE* boarding the bus and *AFTER* exiting the bus! Here are
a few tips to share with your student . . .

TRAVELING TO
FROM & WAITING for the bus
  • Walk safely and stay on sidewalks -- if there are none, walk on the left side of the road facing oncoming traffic.
  • If possible, walk with a "buddy."
  • Don't run around or play at the bus stop -- behavior that may be OK for the playground can be dangerous at the bus stop.
ENTERING the bus:
  • Form a single line in front of the door.  Don't push or shove - wait your turn.
  • Use the handrail when climbing aboard the bus. Leave room for the student in front of you to climb aboard safely.
  • Move quickly but carefully toward your seat, making sure not to bump into other students with your backpack or other items you may be carrying.
EXITING the bus:
  • Look to rear of bus before stepping off bottom step.
  • Take five steps straight out the bus door and out of the bus danger zone.
  • Wait for driver to signal you before crossing in front of bus.
THANK YOU
EVAN MORRITSE

Evan Morritse, brother to SVA students Ian & Sidney, generously donated SIX (6!) computers to SVA!

Evan rescued these machines from becoming just another pile of e-recycling thanks to his extraordinary tech "know-how" and generous spirit !

A big SVA "THANK YOU" to EVAN for so kindly sharing his skills, knowledge and resources with us -- we appreciate it !

HOT SLICE OF SUCCESS

SVA PTO's Pizza Garden fundraiser delivered
$1,555.75 in funds that will support SVA and its students! An Extra-Large "THANK YOU" to all SVA families who participated -- and a special "WITH EVERYTHING" thank you to PTO Chair Katia Clark for dialing in this delicious combo of fun, flavor and funding!
