September 2014

So sad to see the summer slipping away but it was certainly a busy time for PROBUS.   Robert gives you a rundown below. Phew! We need the fall to relax!

But...first...come hungry to our annual Pancake Breakfast next Friday (and don't forget to sign up for the car rally)!

SEPTEMBER 5th ANNUAL PANCAKE BREAKFAST
The September meeting has traditionally been a day for the men to show off their culinary talents by rustling up flapjacks, bacon and sausages.

This year is no exception - why break a good thing?
President's Message

Where has the summer gone? Fortunately we will have good memories from the fun PROBUS interest groups, social events - Picnic at Diane & Hans de Visser's and Appetizer Extravaganza at Joan Howard's, Out & About trips and Pub lunches.  The Whisky interest group entered its second year and the Hiking interest group has two hikes under their belts.

Make sure you bring your breakfast appetite to our September 5 General Meeting, which is a casual morning with the men providing all the pancakes and coffee for you. This is also a good opportunity to bring guests to experience the fun of PROBUS membership.

Enjoy the last of your summer company and get ready for a busy Fall PROBUS calendar of events.

COMING UP: CAR RALLY

Gather your team, tune up your car (or navigational skills), and get ready for the open road.  The next Northwest Bay PROBUS car rally is scheduled for the morning of Tuesday, October 7th.

There will be a sign up sheet at the September meeting.  Drivers, navigators, or just observers - get ready for some fun!!

APPETIZER EXTRAVAGANZA

On August 14th, forty-two members met for some delicious appetizers and friendly conversation at a lovely waterfront setting. None of the members duplicated an appetizer, which meant there was quite a selection.

OUT & ABOUT: to Westwood Lake

Eighteen intrepid walkers showed up for the 6K walk around Westwood Lake and every single one made it to the finish line, which ended (conveniently!) at Westwood Lake Bistro.....
