The City Council will meet Monday at 7 p.m. in City Council Chambers. Highlights of the meeting include public hearings on legislation
(1) allowing vehicular access to Aris T. Allen from Rocky Gorge (continued from last meeting);
(2) including attorney positions to the exempt service; and
(3) approving the Annapolis Renewable Energy Park land lease agreement.

In addition, the Council will discuss and possibly take action on the sale or lease of City-owned property at 9 St. Mary's Street.

The Council will also consider, on 1st Reader, new legislation on school capacity sponsored by Alderman Arnett and me.

My analysis of the agenda is below.

News Since Last Email

On Thursday night, the city held a town hall meeting to present residents with the start of its plans to address rising sea level and flooding downtown and in Eastport. About 175 people attended to hear from city officials and the Army Corps of Engineers and see exhibits from other organizations involved in the process, including the Naval Academy. Sea level in Annapolis is expected to rise some 44 inches in the next 100 years so. The effort now will be to flood-proof properties - public and private - as much as possible as waters rise.  The city has received $175,000 in grant money to study the issues and come up with a plan.

Public outreach is part of that plan. Members of the public are being asked to rank the places that matter most to them so planners can set some priorities. Here is the survey asking for that information. Here are the slides presented Thursday night.
