News Since the Last Meeting
  • Update regarding the cell tower proposed for the grounds of Annapolis Middle School: the school board adopted a policy that gives the School Superintendent, rather than the Board, primary responsibility for making decisions regarding the placement of cell towers at our schools. For or against, consider voicing your opinion to the BOE.

  • Petitions (Public Comments). This is your opportunity to speak to any matter not listed for a public hearing below.

PUBLIC HEARINGS

O-4-14    Lease of City Dock Space to Chesapeake Marine Tours -
For the purpose of authorizing for fiscal year 2020 the lease of certain municipal   property located at the City Dock to Chesapeake Marine Tours, Inc. for the docking and mooring of certain boats.

My Comment:

The City of Annapolis and Chesapeake Marine Tours, Inc., have entered into a succession of leases beginning in 1972 for the purposes of permitting Chesapeake Marine Tours to lease docking spaces at the City Dock to dock its vessels and carry on its business of operating a cruise and water taxi service on the Chesapeake Bay and its tributaries. The lease provides for payments to the City for rent ($52,122), electricity ($5,400), and refuse collection ($3,000), for a total of $60,522.

R-9-14     An Ad Hoc Committee to Study the 2013 Municipal Election and Make Recommendations, If Needed, to Improve the City Code, Structure, and Procedures for City Elections - For the purpose of establishing an ad hoc committee to study the 2013 municipal election and make recommendations, if needed, to improve the City Code, structure, and procedures for elections in the City of Annapolis.

My Comment:

This measure was introduced by me and Alderwoman Pindell-Charles as an effort to examine the 2013 City election by a bi-partisan committee that would make recommendations to the City Council for future elections. I'm not set on the exact size or composition of the committee, and therefore look forward to hearing the public's thoughts on that and other aspects of this resolution during this public hearing.
