Parking and Drop-Off Reminders at VVMS

If students are dropped off at Valley View, please use the west side drop off at Valley View Door # 1.  Note...EHS "zero" hour begins at 7:30 AM and there is typically heavy traffic just prior to 7:30 AM to accommodate EHS students and EHS drop offs. We recommend avoiding the 7:20-7:30 time frame for dropping off your VVMS child, as traffic will be heavy and the parking lot hectic.  You may experience delays during that time frame.

Do NOT drop your child off on the east side of VVMS during the very busy bus traffic times of 7:20-7:40 A.M. and 2:15-2:50 P.M. We want to ensure our students are safe.  Mixing bus traffic on our east side with parents dropping students off at the same time will create hectic and unsafe conditions for all students.

Guest parking spaces are available near Door #1 on Valley View's west side.

Valley View Digital Norms and Student Digital Citizenship
In conjunction with our eLearning2 implementation, Valley View staff developed consistent school wide Digital Norms, including a standard for Student Digital Citizenship.

All students will be viewing this presentation.  Please take a moment to review our Digital Norms and Student Digital Citizenship Standards and discuss with your child.

2014-2015 School Year

"The expectation is that every student has and uses a device."

Welcome to eLearning2

What is eLearning2?

Edina Public schools continues to be recognized as a premier institution for learning and is consistently ranked as one of the premier school districts in the country.  In order to keep that level of excellence, the district has been exploring what the Next Generation of excellence will look like for Edina Public Schools.  A major component of that next generation is technology.

The district has identified three areas of focus around digital learning and is calling it eLearning2:

  • Identify digital learning content and begin integrating these tools within instruction.

  • Provide professional development for our teaching staff on innovative ways to integrate technology and mitigate negative aspects of technology in our learning environments.

  • Establish the expectation that all students have everyday access to a Chromebook or laptop that can run the Google Chrome browser.

To ensure that all of our students have access to technology, Edina Public Schools has partnered in an innovative and exclusive partnership with

Best Buy to offer mobile learning devices at special prices for incoming 6th, 8th and 9th grade families.

These students will be given the opportunity to buy one aggressively-priced device within our custom web store with Best Buy. There are three different learning devices to choose from and we hope that you select the device that best-suits your student. This partnership also includes free basic Geek Squad technical services at both Edina middle schools and Edina High School throughout the school year.

Access to our Best Buy web store will begin on or around July 14, 2014, and will continue until early October. All 6th, 8th, and 9th grade students are eligible to purchase one device at a special price.  Students participating in the free/reduced lunch program will receive a district provided Chromebook at no cost.

This year's web store will offer the following three devices for purchase:

Device

Retail Price

Price for Edina Families

Acer C720 Chromebook

$264.99

$114.99

Macbook Air 11"

$899.99

$749.99

Asus Vivobook

$599.99

$449.99

  • Though participation in this opportunity is optional, the expectation is that every student has a device.*A cellular phone does not constitute an educational tool.
  • The Best Buy web store is simply an opportunity for incoming 6th 8th, and 9th grade families to buy a device at a special price.
  • If your child is already bringing a learning device, they can continue this practice. If you would prefer to purchase a learning device from another vendor, that is permitted.  If your child chooses not to take advantage of this fantastic opportunity, the school has created a process for making an Acer C720 Chromebook available for checkout.

If you are new 7th grade parent or are a 7th grade parent who did not purchase a device through the web store last year for your child, you will not able to purchase a device this fall through the Best Buy web store.  However, your child will be able to check out a Chromebook for the school year.

  •  We will  provide student the Checkout contract
  •  A parent signs contract
  • The student brings signed contract to media center
  • Media center signs out Chromebook to student for the year.
