The Broncos rallied to overcome a multi-run deficit for the second game in a row as part of a 3-2 victory over the Tigers Saturday to clinch the team's first West Coast Conference series win of 2015. Santa Clara fell behind 6-0 through the third inning Sunday, and fell a run short of the Tigers 7-6, leaving the potential game-tying run at first in a one-run ninth inning. Eric Lex and Jason Seever each pitched 4.0 shutout innings And Reece Karalus closed down the ninth to limit a high-powered Nevada offense to four hits in a 3-0 Bronco win Monday.

The Dons won two of three games against Saint Mary's last weekend - including a Saturday tilt at AT&T Park - before falling to Stanford 5-3 in a midweek contest. They continue a road-heavy stretch; by the end of the series USF will have played 22 of 32 games on the road this season.

Broncos Shut Out No. 26 Nevada 3-0

Santa Clara baseball capped a stretch of nine games in 11 days with a 3-0 shutout victory over No. 26 Nevada Monday night at Schott Stadium. Three Bronco pitchers held the Wolf Pack to four hits and Stevie Berman went a perfect 4-for-4 at the plate with two RBIs in the victory.

The Broncos have won a game against all three ranked opponents they have faced this season; they also defeated No. 1 Vanderbilt Feb. 14 and No. 30 San Diego March 22.

Grant Meylan led off the third inning with a drag bunt single to the right side of the infield and Berman hit a deep home run to left - his first long ball of the season - to put the Broncos (14-13) in front 2-0. Three batters later, Kyle Cortopassi hit an RBI infield single to shortstop to drive in Jose Vizcaino, Jr. and give the hosts a 3-0 edge.

"I've worked really hard with Coach Beauregard and watched a lot of video with him," Berman said. "He'll analyze it and compare it to big leaguers, and he really gets us going where we need to be. What he's done for the team and me has been exceptional."

Bronco Baseball Rallies Late, Falls One Run Shy to Pacific 7-6

Santa Clara baseball trailed 6-0 in the third inning Sunday afternoon and cut the deficit to one run, but could not complete the comeback in a 7-6 loss to Pacific at Schott Stadium. The Broncos scored six times in the last five innings and had the potential game-winning run at the plate in the ninth as Tiger closer Vince Arobio struck out Jake Brodt to end the contest.

Santa Clara won the series 2-1 and had a five-game winning streak snapped in the series finale loss.

The Broncos (13-13, 4-5 WCC) brought the potential game-tying run to the plate five times in the last two innings. Santa Clara's Joe Becht hit an RBI sacrifice fly to center field as the first potential-game tying run with one out and runners on first and third to make the score 7-5 Pacific in the eighth.

In the ninth, Stevie Berman made it to third on a leadoff double and throwing error by Pacific center fielder Tyler Sullivan before being driven in on a 6-3 groundout by the next batter, Jose Vizcaino, Jr. After T.J. Braff's groundout, Kyle Cortopassi singled to put the potential game-tying run on the bases with two outs. Brodt struck out swinging against Arobio (SV, 3) for the game's final out.

Santa Clara baseball rallied to overcome a multi-run deficit for the second game in a row as part of a 3-2 victory over Pacific Saturday night at Schott Stadium. The Broncos conceded two first-inning runs and scored three in a row through the end of the fifth to win the ballgame.

Santa Clara has won five contests in a row for the second time in 2015; Saturday night's victory also clinched SCU's first West Coast Conference series win of the season.

The Tigers (4-20, 3-5 WCC) had their second batter of the game open the scoring for the second night in a row when J.J. Wagner hit an RBI groundout to shortstop, which drove in leadoff hitter Tyler Sullivan. Pacific's Louis Mejia singled through the right side with two outs, and Gio Brusa - who started the play at second base - scored from third when Bronco right fielder Grant Meylan threw over the head of starting pitcher Kevin George.

"I remembered that we have the offense to compete and we're going to get some runs," George said. "I just tried to stay calm, get back to my gameplan and attack these hitters."
