Annual Bronco Baseball Kick-Off Weekend Set for February 7-8, 2014 |
The annual Bronco Baseball Kick-Off Weekend is set for February 7-8, 2014. The weekend events help launch the Santa Clara baseball program into its 2014 season.
Every year the Kick-Off Weekend is focused around the Alumni Game, which pits former Bronco players against the current team. In past years, other events during the weekend have included a golf tournament at Cinnabar Hills Golf Club, a bocce ball tournament at Campo di Bocce, a pancake breakfast on the Mission Campus, and a pre-season banquet at the home of Kevin Walters.
Family, friends, and fans can expect a similar experience in 2014 and should save the date so they don't miss this great opportunity to meet and support the Bronco Baseball team. Invitations and more details will be released soon.

Meet the Future of Bronco Baseball: Michael Bono
|
As Santa Clara baseball continues to highlight the incoming class of freshman for 2014-15, it features the second member of that group today, Michael Bono. The right-handed pitcher/third baseman currently attends Buchanan High School in Clovis, Calif., just outside of Fresno.
"I chose Santa Clara because it offers a great education and the campus as well as the area suited what I was looking for," Bono said. "I really connected with the coaching staff, and the facilities were tremendous."
While playing for Tom Donald's Buchanan Bears, the 6-foot-1, 175-pound two-way player was a part of the 2013 Tri-River Athletic Conference championship team. In summer 2012, he traveled to Australia and in summer 2011, he traveled to Japan to compete with the Fresno USA team. Bono also participated in the Area Code Games with the Northern California Region and was named to the 2013 Bay Area World Series All-Tournament Team (an event held at Santa Clara in July 2013).

Getting to Know Junior T.J. Braff |
Why did you choose Santa Clara?
I choose Santa Clara because of the coaches, facilities and location. I wanted to go to school close to home and Santa Clara was a perfect match.
What draws you to baseball? What is special about the college game?
I have always loved playing baseball ever since I was a little kid. The team aspect as well as individual aspect of baseball is what draws me towards the game. I have also learned that many of the lessons I have learned from baseball can also be applied to the real world.
