Last week Santa Clara fell to Cal Poly on the road before being swept by San Diego at home. The Broncos are now 9-28 overall with a 0-15 mark in West Coast Conference play.

"We're going through a rough time as a team right now," said Santa Clara head coach Dan O'Brien. "We need to grow as a team and learn to take a punch but we won't be able to accomplish that until the guys are tired of losing. The adversity will ultimately benefit us because it will help build the program."

Kellen Lee Continues to Coach Young Broncos

LeeAfter his graduation from UC San Diego in 2011, Kellen Lee decided to follow his head coach, Dan O'Brien, up to Santa Clara and join his staff as the Baseball Operations Assistant. Now in his second year working for the Broncos, Lee has learned a lot and continues to use his own experiences from his baseball career to coach the Broncos.

"I have really enjoyed my experience here at Santa Clara," said Lee. "I have always felt very comfortable being a member of this coaching staff and athletic department. I have learned a lot about myself, how a baseball program operates, and how an entire athletic department operates."

Meet the Future of Bronco Baseball: Garrett Doane

DoaneContinuing to introduce the next wave of talent, Santa Clara baseball introduces Garrett Doane. Doane attended Basha High School in Chandler, Ariz. and was coached by Coach Schilling and Coach Maxwell.

"Santa Clara was an easy choice for me because the coaches seem very dedicated and motivated with their new recruits," said Doane. "From my first interaction with Coach Ribas, I could tell it was a top-notch athletic program that I can't wait to play for. I am also very excited to be a part of this school because of the exciting but challenging academics, amazing campus and of course the California weather. Having played baseball year round in Arizona, the great weather will be just another bonus for me."

While UNC stayed fixed at No. 1, the rest of the top ten saw some shuffling this week. Louisiana State won a series at Alabama and moved up to No. 2 for the first time this year, dropping Vanderbilt to No. 3. Virginia swept Florida State in a matchup of top-10 teams, earning the Cavaliers the No. 5 ranking. Another ACC team was the week's biggest mover, however. North Carolina State jumped up nine spots for sweeping then-No. 14 Georgia Tech on the road, coming in at No. 6 in the new rankings. The Wolfpack, which began the season ranked No. 8, had dropped out of the Top 25 in late March but has stormed back with a 14-game winning streak...
