Seaver Whalen signs with SCU Baseball
Continuing to introduce its signing class, Santa Clara baseball introduces Seaver Whalen of Camas, Wash. Whalen attended Union High School where he was coached by Tom Lampkin and Maco Hamilton.


"Santa Clara's great coaching staff, education, facilities and team philosophy easily made it my top choice," said Whalen. "I love how the whole baseball team gets along and I feel like the plans to win a National Championship are very important..."

Left-handed pitcher Powell Fansler (PF) hopes to transfer over his success from last season to the up coming 2013 season. As a junior, Fansler helped the Broncos pick up some key wins, as well as being named WCC Pitcher of the Month in February 2012.


SCB: Last year, as a sophomore, you were named WCC Pitcher of the Month in February 2012. What kind of confidence does this give you going into the season this year?


PF: By obtaining this award I am able to enter this new season with the confidence that I can pitch successfully and get people out at this level...

Santa Clara Baseball opens the 2013 season at home against Seattle University
The 2013 Santa Clara Baseball team opens the spring season at home on Friday, February 15 against Seattle University. The 6:00pm game at Stephen Schott Stadium is the first of a three game set against the Redhawks.
"Our goal is to sell out the home opener and give our guys a great home field advantage," said Head Coach Dan O'Brien. "With 32 games at home this year, we need the support of the Santa Clara community to help us win ballgames."
