Bronco Baseball Schedules Kick-Off Weekend for February 8-9
With the start of the season less than a month away, Santa Clara baseball will host its Kick Off Weekend on February 8 and 9. The weekend will include a golf tournament at Cinnabar Hills Golf Club, a preseason banquet, an alumni breakfast and the alumni game. Read the entire press release here...

Santa Clara baseball introduces future Bronco Michael Westra from Scottsdale, Arizona. Westra attended Brophy College Prep in Phoenix where he was coached my Tom Succow and Matt Hooten.
"I chose Santa Clara because it was the perfect fit for me," said Westra. "It has a great baseball program with the nicest, craziest and most entertaining coaches I have ever met. Senior Shortstop Justin Viele Prepares for His Last Year

This is an exciting time for many seniors as they are getting closer and closer to their last quarter of college. Justin Viele of the Santa Clara baseball team is very excited to have a strong last season as a Bronco with his fellow seniors. Santaclarabroncos.com (SCB) caught up with Viele (JV) and he shared with us how his experiences have been as a Bronco and what he is looking forward to for his last season.
SCB: What did you do for training over summer?
JV: I started the summer playing in Slippery Rock, Penn. with my fellow Broncos, Max Deering and Zach Looney, but due to a nagging elbow injury I was only in Slippery Rock for a couple weeks before returning home. When I got home I rehabbed my elbow a lot, but was still able to hit, take ground balls and lift normally for the most part...

RD Baseball Academy at Santa Clara University is hosting its Winter Pitching Clinic this Sunday, January 27 at Stephen Schott Stadium. The pitching clinic will provide youth and high school pitchers with instruction from Gabe Ribas, pitching coach at Santa Clara University.
Drills will focus on improving arm strength, pitching mechanics, throwing form, controlling the running game, reading a hitter, and fielding your position.

Former Miami baseball coach Ron Fraser dies

CORAL GABLES, Fla. (AP) -- Ron Fraser coached the national teams from two different countries, is a member of 10 different Halls of Fame, won two NCAA baseball championships and never had a losing record in a 30-year career with the Miami Hurricanes.
He'll be remembered for so many other reasons. The longtime Miami coach - dubbed ''the wizard of college baseball'' - died Sunday morning after fighting Alzheimer's disease for many years, family spokesman Tony Segreto said.
