A Message from the Superintendent  


Recently, I had the opportunity to complete the first advisory meetings with our teachers, students and parents.  As I have always said, these are the three groups that provide enlightening and engaging conversation about our school system relative to what is working and how we can make it better.  High school students shared their experiences with the new online registration process from the summer.  Many were pleased, knowing that it will be a much faster process in the future. The first time was indeed a new experience.

With a goal of strengthening school leadership to increase student achievement, Birmingham City Schools is proud to present an impressive administrative roster of both new and veteran Principals to lead the system .. 

  
to witness what many are calling a new era for Birmingham City Schools. Notable of the many speakers was student from Lewis Elementary.  The fifth-grade student, Israel Torres, led the charge for the event.  He pleaded with the new board saying, "We're counting on you for your leadership.
