You've probably heard of summer slide. That's the phrase coined to characterize learning loss over the summer. But what about the learning loss that can occur over the 52 weekends that students experience every year? That's what Birmingham City Schools hopes to prevent through the implementation of a robust, year-long Saturday school program of enrichment, remediation and acceleration to provide yet another layer of support to increase student achievement.
