Recently, members of the Birmingham Board of Education approved a resolution petitioning the Jefferson County Commission for a special election to consider a 3 mill property tax increase. This comes at a time when our system has demonstrated tremendous fiscal accountability, responsible stewardship and efficient allocation and use of existing resources.
