A Message from the Superintendent (2/21/2014) 

For the first time ever, all Alabama juniors will be required to take the ACT and we want our students to be prepared.  That's why we have partnered with College Admissions Made Possible (CAMP), a local nonprofit organization which provides intensive college admissions assistance to students.

With six instructional days lost due to inclement weather, Birmingham City Schools promptly responded

  

Birmingham City Schools is currently accepting application for alternative school admission for elementary and middle schools.  Most schools are accepting applications through March 7

You may also download a copy of the admissions application from the website.  Please direct any questions or inquiries to the school for which you are making application.

Like our second President John Adams who said, "Facts are stubborn things," Birmingham City Schools' want to communicate the facts and take every opportunity to address some of the rumors we've heard. That said ... 

  
to witness what many are calling a new era for Birmingham City Schools. Notable of the many speakers was student from Lewis Elementary.  The fifth-grade student, Israel Torres, led the charge for the event.  He pleaded with the new board saying, "We're counting on you for your leadership.
