In Alabama, school board members are tasked with vision, structure, accountability, and advocacy for the systems they serve. This is a tremendous responsibility, and requires a huge sacrifice and commitment of time, talent and resources.
Arisha Bolden was just as excited as her students to find out that she was this week's winner of CBS42's One Class At A Time grant program. As such, she'll receive $1,000 to use for her class at Bush K-8 in Birmingham.

to witness what many are calling a new era for Birmingham City Schools. Notable of the many speakers was student from Lewis Elementary. The fifth-grade student, Israel Torres, led the charge for the event. He pleaded with the new board saying, "We're counting on you for your leadership.
