Birmingham City Schools pride itself on recognition of diversity as we celebrate the National Hispanic Heritage Month.   The celebration of National Hispanic Heritage Month provides Birmingham City Schools an opportunity for many teachable moments, both inside the classroom and out, to promote respect and appreciation for Hispanic and Latino culture and heritage.

The Junior United Nations Assembly, also known as JUNA, is a 22-year-old program that gets students involved in current events and helps them better understand the duties and purpose of the United Nations.


Ramsay Alternative High School, is a National Blue Ribbon School for 2013.

The National Blue Ribbon Schools Program award recognizes public and private elementary, middle, and high schools where students either achieve very high learning standards or are making notable improvements toward those standards.
