Summer Work
Over the past month, I have been highlighting various summer programs in Birmingham City Schools. These programs serve to provide enrichment and extended learning opportunities for students. We start at a young age creating life-long learners in our school system. While our staff continue through these programs, there is other work that is also going on at this time. Principals are busy preparing schedules, textbooks are being delivered and re-located, and bus routes are being finalized. Those are just a few of the items that are being completed as we prepare for the 2013-14 school year. To facilitate school consolidation transitions, our facilities staff is also hard at work ensuring that as one building is closing, others will be fully prepared to accommodate students when they arrive. Beginning next week, we will again reach out to parents so that they have the latest information for Back to School in BCS. Our efforts to get students back to school on the first day of class were a success last school year. This year, working with our partners, we will increase those efforts again to ensure that our students are back to school on the first day, August 19th , and are "Ready Day One". The preparation now will pay off in the classroom this fall. Success does not happen by accident. It takes planning, preparation, and implementation. Birmingham City Schools - Believe. Create. Succeed.
