Changes finalized, information coming
Over the past months, Birmingham City Schools has been working through school consolidations, closures and related student assignment changes. This process included numerous meetings, discussions and revisions. As of this week, recommendations were finalized regarding many of these areas. Because of the changes that will be taking place, the school system will be mailing parents information regarding school assignments to all students in the system. This will occur at the end of the month. As an added measure to ensure a smooth opening of school, we will send another mailer in late summer prior to registration and the start of the 2013-14 school year. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank parents and community for the feedback and input throughout this process. We all appreciate the fact that such changes are not easy, but we are looking forward to being able to offer additional elective offerings and other benefits to schools and our students as we move forward. As always, we thank everyone for their continued support of Birmingham City Schools Sincerely, Craig Witherspoon Superintendent Birmingham City Schools |
