 Ramsay nominated for Blue Ribbon

Congratulations are in order for Ramsay High School, which is one of five schools that have been nominated for the Blue Ribbon School program by the Alabama State Department of Education.

A state department committee reviewed all Alabama schools in November and nominated the five schools based on the criteria set by the U.S. Department of Education, which sponsors the Blue Ribbon School program. The federal agency then invited the schools to apply.

The nomination itself is an indication of what is happening across the school district. We are raising the bar for all students, increasing rigor and providing students with opportunities through career academies and Advanced Placement classes.

Ramsay's faculty is now in the process of completing the application.

We are proud of Ramsay, which also is in the candidacy stage to become an International Baccalaureate school. Ramsay is an excellent school that is well deserving of this honor.

Sincerely,

Craig Witherspoon

Superintendent
