Summer is almost here! I love summer. The weather is awesome. It stays light really late. My kids don't have homework. We do fun stuff. But summer is really my favorite time because there are opportunities that don't happen the rest of the year. Opportunities to have picnics and hang out with neighbors and friends and travel somewhere new. Let's be on the look-out for new opportunities for our groups, for welcoming new folks into community. This month we have some ideas for summer and for fall - so break out of the usual structure of your group and have fun!

Slow Down With a Great Book

Want a truly inspirational book to read this summer? Love Does by Bob Goff is full of amazing stories for all ages. This will be the content for our fall worship series and Compassion Week theme. And Bob Goff is coming to preach at all three morning worship services on September 25! Get a head start on this fascinating material now. If you or any folks in your group would like a book, they are available in the church office for $10 while supplies last. Thanks for spreading the word to your group members.

Super Summer Suggestions

Now is a great time to talk with your group about what to do over the summer. Some groups continue meeting regularly, some groups take a break, and others find opportunity for something entirely different. Consider these ideas:
- Have a BBQ at a park
- Go for a hike together
- Plan a day trip to the beach or mountains or forest
- Do a service project together, such as Hope's Corner
- Attend a concert or sporting event together
- Learn more about other
- Browse the Resource Center at church and pick a study that looks interesting

When Love Does ... Life Gets Interesting

We are delighted to host Bob Goff, an attorney and New York Times bestselling author of Love Does, in our Sanctuary in September! Our entire church and community will join together to share in his book and accompanying small-group video curriculum. Here are some key dates to note:
Saturday, August 27: Morning workshop and rally for Love Does (current and new hosts and anyone else are welcome!)
Sunday, September 11: Kick-off for Love Does worship series and GroupLife
Sunday, September 25: Bob Goff joins us in all three morning worship services and for a luncheon Q&A afterwards
Sunday, October 2: Compassion Week begins, with this year's theme of Love Does!
We will support your group in whatever way needed to engage in this awesome experience. GroupLife will provide videos and study guides free to any group choosing to participate. There are five video sessions, and they can be done at any time on any schedule you wish.
