Salinas UMC Clothing Drive Update
January's Outreach Connection agency was the Neighborhood Ministry based at First UMC of Salinas. The Outreach Committee and the entire Bold Service and Social Justice team would like to thank the LAUMC community for their incredible generosity in supporting this important ministry!
The collection barrels outside the sanctuary were filled to overflowing with much-needed clothing. The huge amount of collected clothing required three delivery trips to Salinas! A special thank-you to the Pytel family who packed their wagon to the gills for each trek.
Under the leadership of pastor Steve Lundin, the Neighborhood Ministry serves breakfast and lunch six days a week to more than one hundred people a day. This ministry also provides a safe, inviting place for the homeless to gather during the day, a clothes closet, a weekly mobile health clinic, support groups for veterans and those with addictions, job counseling, and more.
'Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.'

Empty Bowls Soup Supper XXV
The 25th Annual Empty Bowls Soup Supper is on Sunday, April 17, 2016. Sponsored by the
Community Services Agency and the Orchard Valley Ceramic Arts Guild, the supper is a fundraiser for CSA's Homeless Services program.
With a donation of $20 you receive a supper of soup, salad and bread, and the beautiful ceramic bowl your meal is served in is yours to take home. The supper is from 4:00-6:00 PM at the Central Adventist Church, 1425 Springer Rd., Mountain View. You may buy a ticket at the door, online at www.csacares.org, or by calling (650)968-0836 x147.
As you are no doubt aware, people in our area are finding it difficult to secure permanent, reasonably-priced housing. Your donations make it possible for CSA to help their clients locate and secure affordable housing and provide assistance with public transportation, health services, rental assistance, and food.
Please consider supporting this important program. Questions? Contact Sue Shaffer sshaffer1235@yahoo.com.
