Don't Tax My CU
Here's what we've been up to.....

Food Donations
USG held a nationwide competition between their mills to see who could collect the most food for their local food shelf.  Northwoods CU helped out with 321 pounds of food!

NCU also helped out Mrs. Hanson's 5th grade class at South Terrace with their school competition to see which class could collect the most food!
Wellness Club
Northwoods Credit Union started a Wellness Club and 14 employees participated.  The goals were set: 100 minutes of exercise per week, 7500 steps per day and 64 ounces of water per day.  Over the first 12 weeks, employees lost 146 pounds!

Meals on Wheels, Christmas Lunch

We've been doing one of the Wednesday Meals on Wheels routes for 2 years. We have enjoyed meeting those folks on our route and we look forward to our visits each week. The week before Christmas, Northwoods Credit Union bought lunch for everyone that either ate at the Senior Center or had their meal delivered.

Carlton County Sheriff K9 Unit Donation
The Northwoods CU Board of Directors heard that the Carlton County Sheriffs department was fundraising to reimplement their K9 unit. The Board voted unanimously at their November meeting to donate $10,000.  Kelly Lake accepted the donation on behalf of the Carlton County Sheriff's Department and said that the donation will definitely speed up the process.  We will keep you updated when the K9 gets to town!

Salvation Army's Red Kettle
11 Northwoods CU employees, 2 NCU Board Members, our Financial Advisor, 4 spouses, 14 employees' kids and even 1 dog pitched in to take a week of the 5-7pm shift at Super One and L&M to ring the Bell.  Our crew helped out with 22 hours of bell ringing shifts!  The Salvation Army ended up raising over $66,000 through this year's Red Kettle Campaign!

Best Christmas Ever
Best Christmas Ever is a group of friends and local businesses that came together in 2011 to help just 1 family in a major way and give them the Best Christmas Ever! Since then they have doubled every year!

NCU employees came together to raise some money & NCU matched their funds for a total donation of over $500 to this year's Carlton County family!  You can check out more about the Best Christmas Ever by visiting their website at
