This Weekend, August 16 - 18
 Tonight!
Lama Karma Drodhul gives a transmission of the famous yogi's autobiography, teaches his songs, and reflects on Milarepa's life. This blessing will help us succeed in our practice.

The KTD Video Archiving Project is seeking "old school" (practically antique!) equipment for playing back old videos shot at KTD from the 1970s to the 1990s.

U-Matic!

If you have a video deck or camera that plays U-matic
and/or
Video8, Digital8, or Hi8

We would like to borrow your equipment for playing back the videos for digital transfer.

This is a great project with lots of merit, so if you can loan your equipment (or have a friend who can loan it), please let us know.

If you have questions, or would like to bring your equipment, please check in with Jason Petersen of the KTD Video Archiving Project at: jason@kagyu.org.

Lama Karma Drodhul writes:

"I am very happy to announce that Khenpo Karthar Rinpoche's other nephew (the good one!), Ven Lodro Nyima Rinpoche will be arriving Thursday August 15th at Newark Airport from Tibet. Rinpoche will be here at KTD during Rinpoche's Ten-Day Teaching, White Tara retreat and Khenpo Karthar Rinpoche's 90th birthday party.

"Lodro Nyima Rinpoche may give empowerments during the Ten-Day Teaching if students request it, and also may do some interviews too."

Here is the biography of Lodro Nyima Rinpoche

Family Day This Sunday at KTD!

Here's what's in store for Free Family Day at KTD - Sunday, August 18, 2013
9 AM-2 PM:

The day will begin with a Welcoming Exercise In Mindful Music led by Matthew Cantello (http://artshealing.net/) that families will join in progress as they arrive.
When all have gathered, Lama Karma Drodhul will teach on Milarepa, Tibet's beloved poet, singer, and saint.

For the rest of the morning, Guest Artist award winning storyteller/musician/actor David Gonzalez (www.davidgonzalez.com) and Bodhi Kids Team member dancer/singer/energy educator Marie Giguere will assist the children in creating a performance event inspired by Milarepa composed of song, dance, games, nettle tea, and much more.  Parents will be invited to experience the event after lunch.

While the children are creating the performance event, parents will have activities of their own to attend.  Trish Malone, a social worker, psychotherapist, and Tibetan Buddhist practitioner, will lead a workshop on parenting in the Dharma.  And Ani Chime, a monastic from Sweden currently in service at KTD and Trish will co-lead a workshop on Practicing Dharma as a Family.

We're looking forward to seeing you there!

Tulku Damchö Teaching Last Weekend:
Development of Friendship and Connection

After the teaching Tulku Damcho offered us protection cords that have been blessed by the Dalai Lama, the Karmapa, and many great masters.

KTD Executive Director David Kacynski spoke eloquently for the group. "There has been a great friendship between Khenpo Karthar Rinpoche and Thrangu Rinpoche through the years, and it feels like there is a similar friendship developing between KTD sangha and Tulku Damchö."
