Mansion Monthly

August 2015

Meet me at the Mansion!

Greetings from the Mansion!

I'm so happy to report, "The roof leak is fixed!"

Over 200 people attended the 14th annual Death by Chocolate Fundraiser in April.  Proceeds of the fundraiser were earmarked to repair roof damage caused by an ice jam this past winter.  Room sponsors, businesses and individuals who donated raffle items, and event attendees contributed generously to the cause.  The event generated over $13,000 toward the original cost estimate of around $15,000.  In August, the roof repairs were completed.

When the invoice was delivered to Executive Director Gennifer Sauter, the total repair was just shy of $1900!  This remarkable reduction demonstrates the generosity of the construction companies who donated their labor and those businesses who donated materials.   The following businesses are responsible for this significant and unexpectedly charitable act.

Kent Meyer Construction donated labor costs.
Advance Roofing, Inc. donated labor costs.
RNS Supplies donated building supplies (glue, wood, etc.)
Cenex Harvest States (CHS) donated the horse stall mats for the top coat.
Midway Rental donated the lift to get supplies/equipment up/down.
WBC donated supplies (caulk, staples, dura floor, screws, etc.)

Without the support of generous individuals in our community who love the Mansion and attend its events, this repair would have cut a significant chunk out of the Mansion's meager operating budget.  After paying the roof repair invoice, the remaining funds will be used for ongoing maintenance and restoration of this 120-year old icon.  Thanks to all whose contributions support our mission to preserve and exhibit the 1895 Charles E. Conrad Estate.

Thank you for your continued support!

Conrad Mansion Directors Inc. Awarded Shopko Foundation's Community Charitable Grant

Conrad Mansion Board Member Cate Webber recently submitted a grant application through the Shopko Foundation's Community Charitable Grant program.  The grant program was established to support charitable non-profit organizations through limited funding of local programs and events in the Shopko Communities.  In July, Cate was notified of a $250 grant award. The funds will be used in conjunction with the Mansion's 40th Anniversary Year Celebration culminating in a black tie event in June 2016.  Thank you, Shopko, for recognizing the importance and worthiness of this milestone!

Summer at the Conrad Mansion

 Oil Painting by Susan James

Artist Susan James gifted this lovely summer scene to the Conrad Mansion Museum to use for promotional opportunities. The oil painting, now hanging at the Kalispell Chamber of Commerce, captures the stateliness and grandeur of the Mansion. Out-of-town visitors will see the painting, complete with a brass plaque that reads, CONRAD MANSION  Susan James, positioned on a column next to the reception counter.

Susan painted the Mansion several years ago during a "Paint the Mansion" event where artists were invited to work on the Mansion's beautiful grounds.   After enjoying her painting for several years, Susan decided to gift it to the Mansion.  Susan's works are on display at Posh 125 Salon, 125 W. Washington Ave., Kalispell.  Thank you, Susan, for donating your artwork!
