Mansion Monthly

May 2015

Meet me at the Mansion!

Greetings from the Mansion!

This vintage postcard, titled "I'M TIDY NOW," portrays cats primping as if getting ready for a big event.  One of them bears a striking resemblance to Sweetie Pie, the Conrad Cat.  It's true that Sweetie Pie is looking forward to greeting Mansion visitors after a long winter of indoor prowling.  On May 15th, the Mansion opens for the season and her concierge service begins!

Staff has also been sprucing, tidying, polishing and preparing for the Mansion's first visitors. The Mansion opens with two special exhibits; an historic clothing exhibit and the return of the Conrad Family firearms on loan from the Montana Historical Society. Although visitors can view both displays during regular tours, specific curator-led evening tours will be available for the clothing exhibit.  See more information below.

Events are also being planned in conjunction with the firearms exhibit.  Details will be announced soon.

Thank you for your continued support!

Death by Chocolate Wrap Up & Thank You's

The 14th annual Death by Chocolate is now history - just like the memorable 1970s characters featured in the murder mystery.

The Mansion's major fundraiser was a huge success. Thanks to all who helped make this event possible: our dedicated volunteers, including the wonderful and entertaining cast members; the generous community sponsors, both our room sponsors and businesses that donated services, and, of course, our guests, many of whom came in costume.  Click here for a list of this year's sponsors.

Featured below is a unique raffle item received only days before the event.  This handcrafted, gingerbread house of the Conrad Mansion, complete with chocolate dripping from the roof, was donated by Sherri Staat.  A guest from Idaho was the lucky winner of the Conrad Mansion Gingerbread House. Thank you, Sharri, for a one-of-a-kind tribute to this historic Kalispell treasure.

And, finally, thank you to all who participated in this fun event.  The Mansion's roof repair fund is well on its way!

"Celebrating 100 Years of Fashion

Did you know that the Gift Shop accepts donations to sell for the benefit of the Mansion?

Perhaps you have items passed down from great-grandparents of grandparents and are now ready to part with them for one reason or another.

Over the past year, individuals who were moving out of state or downsizing have contacted a staff member about donating items to benefit the Mansion. Examples of items the Mansion accepts are vintage linens, pottery, jewelry, dishes and other unique vintage items.

As a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, gifts to the Mansion are recognized with a thank you letter for IRS purposes. The value of the donation is set by the giver.

Please contact the Mansion if you'd like to discuss whether an item you have would be accepted as a donation. All proceeds from the sale of donated items help support the Mansion.

NOTE: The Mansion's Gift Shop does not offer appraisal services.
