40 years gift to city

Valentine Greetings from the Mansion!

Valentine's Day is a time to think about giving a gift from the heart.  As we prepare the house and gardens for our 40th year, we hope we can count on you to be our Valentine.  Your donation benefits the self-supporting Conrad Mansion Museum.   There are many ways to support this historic landmark.

Back in the day - The Postcard

The first postcard to be printed as a souvenir in the United States was created in 1893 to advertise the World's Columbian Exposition in Chicago. Victorian postcards like these became popular because people wanted an easier way to write a short note.

The postcard craze between 1907 and 1910 was particularly popular among rural and small-town women in Northern U.S. states.   In 1908, more than 677 million postcards were mailed.

Gift Shop Donations

On occasion, people contact the Mansion Gift Shop Manager to ask about donating items.  As a self-supporting, 501(c)(3) entity,  we welcome those inquiries.

Pictured above are some of the items the Gift Shop has recently received for resale. If you plan to downsize and have antique or vintage items, please contact the Mansion about donating.   A  letter for tax purposes will be issued to the donor, who places a value on the gift.

If you would like to help with a donation in other ways, please see this link on our website for our greatest needs list.

A Sneak Preview!

During the Mansion's downtime,  staff has been busy removing sheets from furniture stored in the basement for many years.  Wonderful pieces were revealed - tables, chairs, footstools.

These original pieces have been dusted, polished and moved into some of the Mansion's 26 rooms.

If you haven't visited for a while, plan to be delighted with the Mansion's "new" look.
