Meet Leah

Leah pic

Leah Lindsay has played an instrumental part in Conrad Mansion's Annual Death By Chocolate in nine out of the past 11 years. She not only acts in the play but for the past six years, she's created the story, along with assistance from her actors. She uses events and local lore to make the story interesting year after year.

See more info on Death By Chocolate in story to the right.

Leah is a local radio personality for Bee Broadcasting by day, as well as working for Aflac and gives so much of her time to many non-profits in the valley. In addition to the Conrad Mansion, she is on the Board of Directors for The Abbie Shelter/Violence Free Crisis Line, Flathead Care and The Healing Arts Project. Some of the other non-profits she volunteers for annually include the Nurturing Center, the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, Flathead Building Association and Big Brothers Big Sisters.

In her free time, she loves spending time with her family when not working on different projects. She has four children ages 25, 23, 20 & 10! She goes crazy to hang out with her Grandbaby (Izaak, he's 3!). She spends time in Missoula with her two oldest children or at home with her husband, Steve and kiddos.  She said watching them watch TV makes her happy ... It's the simple things.  They also spend time in West Glacier and are big fans of floating McDonald Creek in the Park and eating huckleberries!! She's from Plains, so going back home and visiting her Dad is important.  And, she loves to cook!

Thanks to Leah for all she does for the Mansion!

New Executive Director Announced

Gennifer

Gennifer Sauter is the new Executive Director of the Conrad Mansion Museum.  Gennifer started her orientation in February and will be available full-time beginning mid-April.  She is excited to have the opportunity to work at the mansion and is looking forward to discovering more about the administration and preservation of our museum as well as developing relationships with other personnel in the field to share information and ideas with.

Gennifer is a native of Kalispell as well as a military veteran. After graduating from Flathead High School in 1990 she joined the Air Force entering into the Financial Management career field. She spent the next twenty years working with military pay, travel accounting, contract maintenance and personnel management. She has been stationed in North Carolina, South Korea, Japan, South Carolina, Alaska and South Dakota. She was also deployed to Sather AB, Iraq in 2005.

She received her Associates degree in Financial Management from the Community College of the Air Force in August 1992.  Gennifer then took an extended break from school to focus on the requirements of work and the desire to start a family. She continued her education after retiring from the Air Force and earned her Bachelors in Business Administration with a concentration in Finance from Columbia Southern University in February 2012.

Gennifer met her husband Scott Sauter, while living in North Carolina. He is also an Air Force veteran originally from Pittsburgh, PA who completed 20 years as well. They have two wonderful daughters, Lea and Nicole. When not working, Gennifer enjoys reading and spending time with her family and her dogs, Kirby the Lhasa Apso, and Samantha the German Shepard/Blue Healer puppy.

It's a Groovy Mystery, Baby, Grrr!

Death by Chocolate - April 20 & 21

Flowers

The theme of the 11th Annual Murder Mystery at the Mansion, Death By Chocolate, has been set - DISCO!  Find your tight pants and psychedelic clothing and make plans to attend one of our biggest fund-raisers of the year!

Come out and enjoy this incredible event.  A devious cast of characters, hidden clues, fabulous food and drink - not to mention the Chocolate Fountain! - await guests as they try to solve the mystery that haunts every room. Enjoy hors d'oeuvres, beer, wine, desserts, chocolate, and prizes as you unravel the mystery. Guests can win prizes for the best disco themed costume.

This great event wouldn't be possible without Leah Lindsay.  She starts working on the storyline and scoping out potential actors in the fall, many months before the April performance. She recruits actors from all walks of life in the Flathead and once they become a part of the troupe, they never want to leave. She's very grateful to all the actors who donate many hours in rehearsals and generate great ideas for the storyline each year.  She's also very thankful to the committee who helps put the event together.

Leah says, "Death By Chocolate is such an incredible way to experience the Conrad Mansion. It's like a live game of Clue inside the Mansion. The audience gets access to the "inside" of the Conrad, sit in the rooms that are normally roped off. Clues are hidden all over the Mansion. The food is amazing and the fun never ends. It's such a celebration. I always imagine that its like a big party the Conrad's would have thrown for this community when they lived there. It's like recreating history, with a twist! And Chocolate, of course!!!!"

Thank you to the businesses that support this important fundraiser with fabulous donations!  You have the opportunity to bid on some great silent auction items or purchase raffle tickets for a group ghost tour.

Tickets for this event are $50 per person (members $45).
Event for 21 and over.
Time: 7:00 P.M. - 10:00 P.M.

Reservations required. Tickets are available at The Bookshelf in Kalispell, or by calling the Conrad Mansion at 755-2166.

Get your tickets early and come solve the mystery.

Tilt-Top Table

desk2Have you noticed the large tilt-top in the Music Room?  This beautiful piece, purchased in 1895, is original to the house.  The mahogany table is a tilt-top and was the epitome of entertaining in the late 19th century.  Displayed in the Music Room of the Mansion, the table is normally in its down position and covered with an original Battenburg lace tablecloth.  A peek underneath the tablecloth reveals a pie crust design around the circumference.  There are four claw feet on the bottom.

On your next visit I hope you will take a few minutes to appreciate this beautiful piece of furniture.
