Ways to Show Mom You Love Her!

Though we all try to show it year round, Mother's Day is a special time to

remind mom just how much we truly care, love, and appreciate her. While Sunday brunch, flowers, a heart-felt gift, and a tear-jerking card are usually on the agenda, here are six more ways to show mom just how much you care.

1. Luxuriate at the Spa: Naturally, a day at the spa is a wonderful indulgence for mom and a great way to spend time together. Relax, de-stress, and enjoy some good old-fashioned girl talk over mani-pedi's or a couple's massage. We have a wonderful menu of treatments [link to treatment menu] to pamper mom. Call us at [phone number] to plan her perfect day.

2. Check Something Off Her To-Do List: We all have an ever-growing to-do list with that one errand or chore that just never seems to get done. Take a look at mom's to-do list and check one big item off it for her. It might be updating the software on her computer, helping her plant a garden, cleaning out her closet for some spring cleaning - whatever it is that mom's been dreading doing, do it for her with love!

3. Participate in Her Hobby for a Day: Does mom have a hard time getting someone to see a play, the opera, or the ballet with her? Has she asked you to take a cooking, dance, or gardening class together? Show mom that you care about her personal interests by just saying "yes" the next time she asks you to join her for one of her hobbies, or better yet, offer to take her on her activity of choice for this Mother's Day weekend.

4. Take a Trip Down Memory Lane: Schedule some "remember when...?" time with mom. Dig out that old box of photos, letters, and keepsakes and sit down together to create a scrapbook or photo album of the special moments the two of you have shared from the time she brought you home from the hospital to the cup of tea you're sharing right now for this trip down memory lane.

5. Socialize & Digitize Her! Learning new technology and social media can be intimidating and challenging for anyone, so help mom out with this! Get her set up on Facebook to connect with long-distance friends and family or help her create a fun Pinterest board for her arts and crafts. You can also digitize her favorite CDs by uploading them into iTunes and syncing her music with her phone.

6. Go For a Walk: We all need to slow down and enjoy the simple things in life once in a while, such a nice long chat over a slow walk with mom. It's a great way to really catch up, burn a few calories, and take in some fresh air and nature at the same time!

Healthy (and Fun!) Recipes for May

May is a month of many celebrations that offer a wide variety of delicious cuisine starting with Mexican fare for Cinco de Mayo to Sunday brunch for Mother's Day to red, white, and blue treats for Memorial Day. Try these easy, fun, and healthy recipes this month...

Cinco de Mayo (May 5):  Pineapple Pico de Gallo: Mix one cup each of diced Roma tomatoes, pineapple, and red onions (a.k.a. purple or Bermuda onions) with 1 minced jalapeno pepper, ½ cup of finely chopped fresh cilantro, the juice of two limes, and a pinch of salt to taste. Don't forget to cut the stems off the cilantro and remove the seeds and stem from the jalapeno. Serve in a festive bowl with your favorite tortilla chips for scooping or as a salsa to top your tacos!

Mother's Day (May 11): Treat mom to breakfast in bed with the latest bite-size trend  - pancake pops!Follow your usual pancake batter recipe (or take the easier boxed route!) and buy 6-inch lollipop sticks. Drop a heaping teaspoon of batter onto your griddle. Wait about a minute for the pancake to settle and place the stick ¾ of the way to the top of the pancake. Use a spoon to smooth the batter over the stick. After a few minutes, the first side should be done; flip it over carefully to cook the other side. Pour your favorite maple syrup and gooey toppings into little cups to dip the pancake pops into! This is a cute treat for a Sunday brunch as well; and kids love making these pops so forward this idea to your husband for your own Mother's Day morning surprise!

Pick Strawberries Day (May 20): This quirky national observance is on the calendar as a way to celebrate the first fruit of spring. Picking strawberries together at your local farm is a nice way to spend a spring day with your mom, kids, or even your sweetie. Other than popping the sweets in your mouth like candy, try mixing strawberries with spring greens for a healthy salad, or throw them into the blender with vanilla almond milk, ice, and protein powder for a power smoothie.

Added bonus - strawberries are packed with Vitamin C, fiber, and antioxidants.

What is the goal of Deep Tissue massage?

Deep tissue massage focuses on connective tissue, and the goal is to produce

changes in movement and posture.

Various layers of fascia that support muscle tissue are affected with direct deep pressure and stretches. Muscle tension is released allowing oxygen, blood and nutrients to reach each cell. It helps with chronic muscular pain and injury rehabilitation and reduces inflammation-related pain caused by arthritis and
tendinitis. Spa Mariana's specially design Custom Blend Massage is a must to try!
