Future of Clean Technology Training Workshop!

The SEED Center is bringing in the New Year with a community college workshop on the Future of Clean Technology Training. 

 

Register now for AACC's Workforce Development Institute in St. Petersburg, FL, held January 29-February 1, and, specifically, this 4th annual SEED clean tech workshop: 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 29. This year's topic - developing skills in the three fastest-growing "clean" industries: water, building performance, and energy management.

Using the Campus as a Sustainable Living Laboratory  


Using the college campus as a sustainable living laboratory has become a popular activity for community colleges across the country. The SEED Center's latest guide has spawned a series of workshops  and webinars on the topic. In 2014, we will be hosting several workshops for colleges on how to engage students in performing an array of green campus facility research and maintenance projects, and how to integrate this living lab pedagogy into curriculum. Stay tuned for FREE workshops in the following areas:

  • Albuquerque, New Mexico (Spring 2014)
  • Washington, DC Metro Area (Spring 2014) 
  • Louisville, Kentucky (TBD)

SEED Kicks Off College Climate Resiliency Work 

 

As communities engage in resiliency planning to adapt to future natural disasters, community colleges can play important roles from preparing skilled workers to convening the necessary public and private stakeholders. The SEED Center has initiated a report that will position community colleges for future national resources on the topic. If you would like to be considered for a role on the national review committee for this publication, please email sustainability@aacc.nche.edu.

Back by popular demand, the SEED Center will be launching its 2014 webinar series in February. Exact dates and times will be announced shortly for the following:

  • Getting the Most out of a 2-Year/4-Year Articulation in Environmental Fields (May)
  • High-Performing Building Performance Workforce: New Standards and College Programming (September)

Student interest in creating a greener and more sustainable future has never been higher. Urgent societal employment and environmental challenges have fueled this student interest. Over 1800 interdisciplinary environmental and sustainability programs now exist in higher education within the United States. Today's Students need information about both career pathways and job openings.
