It is time to start talking to your computer?  To really understand the amazement of Google's Hummingbird update, semantic search, and the future of Google, it IS
time to start talking to your computer, at least talking to Google!  You can start with either using Google voice search on your mobile phone or using the Chrome app Google Voice Search Hotword (Beta) to be able do a Google search with Chrome on your desktop or laptop.

Learning to speak to Google has a few simple instructions.   First, you activate Voice Search by saying "Okay Google," and then phrase your question. If you are in the over 40 crowd like me, you may find you will still speak like you are using the old search techniques. Saying something like "Coffee Shop Raleigh NC" instead of "What coffee shop is near me?" or "What is the best coffee shop in Raleigh?"  The objective is to speak as you would in normal conversation, asking questions using full sentences, and of course speaking clearly.

To try it out on your laptop or desktop you will need a microphone or webcam. Most laptops have them built in. Then install Chrome if you have not already, and install this Chrome app - Click Here to do so.

See this video explaining it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oNBBijn4JuY

Take a moment and view my demo video. After you watch it, answer the question "Why is this so amazing?"  I'm really looking forward to your comments!

Why take the time to do this?

So you will understand the future that is rapidly coming towards us -a world of growing artificial intelligence systems becoming our assistants. How does this help your business? It gets you to think about how you will create content for the prospective client who is talking to their phone and computer.

Now that search has evolved to the next level, it's time for advertising to step up to the plate too...you may wish to read and listen to my interview with David Amerland, author of Google Semantic Search, to spark your thinking about what lies ahead for us..."Beyond Interruption Advertising."

Be well,
Martin
